He earned both his Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and areas of interest include Web journalism, video applications, writing, and reporting. Before that, he worked in radio and television news as a reporter, presenter, and talk show host.August E. ("Augie") Grant is J. Rion McKissick Professor of Journalism at the University of South Carolina. Grant is a technology futurist who conducts research, teaches, and writes regarding convergent journalism, media technologies, audience behavior, and media organizational behavior. Grant created the Communication Technology Update and Fundamentals series, The Convergence Newsletter, and the Newsplex Summer Seminars. He earned his M.A.J.C. at the University of Florida and his Ph.D. from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California, and serves as a consultant to media and high-tech organizations.Douglas J. Fisher is a senior instructor at the University of South Carolina where he specializes in editing, new media, and community journalism. He spent 30 years as a broadcast, newspaper, and wire service journalist and is a former Associated Press news editor. He was a Kiplinger Fellow at Ohio State University, founded the Hartsville Today community journalism site and belongs to the NuzBiz consulting group. He writes the "Common Sense Journalism" blog and monthly column and is executive editor of The Convergence Newsletter.
